daydream.

One of the persons I admire once wrote "Whenever you daydream, there births a seed that has yet to be planted." (--Bundit Ungrangsee) I have to agree! Whenever I daydream (or actually dream-dream) I often get new inspiration to paint or create something new! Therefore, here is my new dreamy, daydream, dream-like inspired piece!

P.S.- I've made tiny updates on my website. Please check it out!!! Have a lovely weekend!

Bonjour!

Here's my new fashion illustration, Funky / Feminine.
What's more of your style? Are you the funky type or the feminine type?

( I'm neither...^__^ )

I melt with you.

50 First Dates is one of my most favorite movies of all time. It's so funny and quirky cute! Plus, I've been a fan of the Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore combo since The Wedding Singer.

After listening to some of the film's soundtracks, Jason Mraz's cover of I Melt with You inspired me to draw this illustration. :) It's a different kind of melt, but...oh well!

Encounter

Encounter.

If I have to name some of the things I love to do...it's taking pictures of my own feet. I'm not sure why. It maybe the angle, the ground I step on, or what kind of shoes I was wearing that day.

I must admit, I took countless photos of my feet. Plus, I force friends to stand with me while I take photos of theirs too! Anyway, I just love it! It inspired me to come up with my new drawing for Encounter.

and yes, these are from real references! I do own these awesome shoes:)

What's in your bag? / powder table?

I am a fan of the blog F*yeahwhatsinyourbag. It's interesting to see what other people carry in their bags, so I decided to submit a piece of my own, in an illustration form of course!

I emptied my purse and had so fun drawing stuff I carry around everyday. Please go favorite my work here if you have a tumblr account!

After I finished this piece, I was inpired to draw more small items. I came up with the idea of drawing Fifty's style powder table.

Since I love makeup, it was certainly a delight to do research on what makeup in the 50's look like. Check out the mascara they used before the wand was invented!

RĂªverie

Recently, I have come to love painting with watercolor. It's so delicate and pretty. For about 6 years now I have chosen acrylic as my main medium, so my watercolor have always been on the shelf. I am glad I started using them again.

I'm also thinking about filling my portfolio with more of these. I feel it is about time I make some transition from my art school style to my own style. Please continue to support me and my illustration. Thank you.

Dream a Little Dream of Me ☁

After my sister sent me a link of Charles Pasi' version of Dream a Little Dream of Me, I fell in like with the song and was inspired to create this piece!

I haven't painted a whimsical and dream-like image in a long time. Turns out, it's now one of my favorite pieces. Looks like I should paint more whimsy illustrations!!

Here is a little tune that inspired this illustration.

Lately my head has been filled with many new illustration ideas! I'm so excited to paint new pieces ^_^ Please check back soon ♫

P.s.- I've added a set of photographs of process work in the studio, Enjoy!

Have a cup of tea

Hello! It's May!

I'm working on a new serie of illustrations: Have a cup of tea.
Here are the first couple of pieces.

Dandy Gentleman Earl Grey:

Dainty Little Miss Rosebud:

The concept is for this project is to depict the teas as people. Since I am a tea lover, this project is really fun :) To me, different teas have different feelings to them. The aftertaste really can translate into images.

My all time favorite is indeed Earl Grey. Since Earl is a tea with class, associating with the past British Prime Minister, I decided to illustrate him as a regal man. Earl also has a citrus addition, so I thought it would be fun to make him a bit of a fruity, Dandy man.

The second image is of Rosebud Tea. Rosebud is an herbal tea, very beneficial to women. It's got a floral scent and it's mild in taste, so it makes a lot of sense she would be a feminine little lady.

More to come! So many different kinds of teas to illustrate, so many ideas floating!

How about you? What's your favorite tea?

challenges

Every so often I face challenges. I try very hard to keep my balance and to be consistent in staying positive and staying focused on my goals. I found a link from Paulo Coelho's blog: 10 Lessons from Einstein which I find very useful.

1. Follow Your Curiosity “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”

2. Perseverance is Priceless “It’s not that I’m so smart; it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”

3. Focus on the Present “Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.”

4. The Imagination is Powerful “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions. Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

5. Make Mistakes “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”

6. Live in the Moment “I never think of the future – it comes soon enough.”

7. Create Value “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”

8. Don’t be repetitive “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

9. Knowledge Comes From Experience “Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience.”

10. Learn the Rules and Then Play Better “You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.”

I think these points work in whatever direction you're heading towards, personal or professional.

Meanwhile, I am working on my new piece, here is a little sneak peek.

Hear no Evil

The 2nd installment for See no Evil. Hear no Evil. Speak no Evil. is completed!!

I must say this is a really fun concept to work on!!!

Although the execution of this illustration only took a couple of days, I hesitated painting hear no evil since I wasn't too satisfied with my previous sketches. (Hence, the 7-month-gap from See no Evil...SORRY!!!) But I love this composition! I hope you do too!!

Please stay tuned for Speak no Evil, the youngest of the three sisters, soon!!!

Here is the illustration for See no Evil!
