Friend Essentials, part 1

I've asked around a few artist and designer friends to allow me to illustrate their essentials. It's loads of fun for me, plus I am curious as to what people wear and use on a daily basis.

Stripes has always been my obsession. I honestly cannot count how many striped/patterned item I have in my closet!

Stripey Sunday features many of my favorites. Stripe shirt, Jeans coffee and bracelets! Sundays couldn't be much better than this!

DAILY ESSENTIALS

I'm starting an illustration series for "DAILY ESSENTIALS" to record some outfits and essentials I have been collaborating each day. This is quite entertaining for me, I am having a blast coming up with these illustrations!

These are some things I personally own + some items I look forward to getting in the future! [Well, in this illus, the only things I don't have are the sandals and that cup of yummy cappucino!]

I am also interested in illustrating other ladies' (or gents') outfits! So if you like, feel free to make any requests of the illus for your daily essentials. I'd be more than happy to illustrate them!

Vintage Ladies

I've been interested in vintage fashion lately. Not wearing, but illustrating them!

There is something about ladies' retro style that is mysteriously feminine to me.

What do you think about these ladies sporting the 20's and 50's style?

Perhaps this year for Halloween, I should wear something vintage? Any suggestions? :)

The Pedestrian

It's been two months since I have moved to Japan.
And one thing I can tell you that scares me is.....Japanese pedestrians!

Why?
Well, the reason being that Japan is overly crowded and a newbie like me really has no grasp of how to move about...especially in the train stations! I can't count how many times I have bumped into people or walk confusingly in the opposite direction from everybody else!

So here is my new illustration. Inspired by my fear of pedestrians and the fashionable men this country has to offer!

I melt with you.

50 First Dates is one of my most favorite movies of all time. It's so funny and quirky cute! Plus, I've been a fan of the Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore combo since The Wedding Singer.

After listening to some of the film's soundtracks, Jason Mraz's cover of I Melt with You inspired me to draw this illustration. :) It's a different kind of melt, but...oh well!

If I have to name some of the things I love to do...it's taking pictures of my own feet. I'm not sure why. It maybe the angle, the ground I step on, or what kind of shoes I was wearing that day.

I must admit, I took countless photos of my feet. Plus, I force friends to stand with me while I take photos of theirs too! Anyway, I just love it! It inspired me to come up with my new drawing for Encounter.

At home

I would like to proudly introduce a series of illustration for At home. My usual watercolor + pencil is assembled with real textures. Here are a few of them with a recurring character :) I had a lot of fun creating these and there are many more up my sleeves!

What's in your bag? / powder table?

I am a fan of the blog F*yeahwhatsinyourbag. It's interesting to see what other people carry in their bags, so I decided to submit a piece of my own, in an illustration form of course!

I emptied my purse and had so fun drawing stuff I carry around everyday. Please go favorite my work here if you have a tumblr account!

After I finished this piece, I was inpired to draw more small items. I came up with the idea of drawing Fifty's style powder table.

Since I love makeup, it was certainly a delight to do research on what makeup in the 50's look like. Check out the mascara they used before the wand was invented!
